Matchmaking event: Scientists meet Business experts
The first of four matchmaking events for the Health-Tech Laboratory supercluster began by breaking down silos between different scientific and business areas in order to facilitate collaboration and form joint projects in the commercialization of healthcare research.
On Friday, December 23rd, 2022, scientists with inventions, i.e., research results they want to develop into market solutions (in the form of startups or licenses), gathered at the Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering (IMGGI) for the pioneering event, along with representatives from the Institute of Nuclear Energy Applications (INEP) and the Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy (IHTM) from Belgrade, on one side, and business experts and professors from the Faculty of Organizational Sciences in Belgrade and individual consultants from current areas of GDPR and regulation (Maša Komnenić) and clinical trials (Maja Čonkić).
The goal of this first meeting was to introduce the scientists and their projects, and the most important challenges of the industries they work in, while business experts learned for the first time about the challenges of the healthcare technology industry and presented their skills and ways in which they can participate in solving these challenges as a team.
In January 2023, the next phase, which is a product of the aforementioned event, will officially commence -- the formation of a specific, annual collaboration program, where the team of business experts will work with teams of scientists on their biggest challenges over a period of 2-3 months. These challenges are usually: market research, communication with business partners, financial projections communication for communication with investors, and similar activities to facilitate the transfer of technology from the laboratory and bring it to the end users (patients, doctors, and other citizens) as quickly as possible.
